Zachary “Alex” Schiffman, Revenue Cycle Manager

About Zachary “Alex” Schiffman

Zachary “Alex” Schiffman grew up locally in Kitsap County, enjoying everything what the Pacific Northwest provided. He never felt like he wanted to leave as it provided everything he enjoyed doing: riding dirt bikes, being on the water, and going on hikes. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 2006 and went to Olympic College where he received his associate in arts and science before transferring to the University of Washington where he received his bachelor’s in arts and science (Psychology). He enjoyed growing up in Kitsap County because of the closeness of the community and knew he wanted to be part of an organization that can give something back to that community.

After college, Alex got a job in Shelton, WA. with Mason General Hospital. He had different roles throughout his career with Mason General. Processing patients’ Financial Assistance applications for the hospitals and clinics was his first role. During his time, he was able to connect with the community as he would be assisting patients with completing their application. After four years of processing financial assistance applications, he moved to a patient navigator role. His time involved working with patients and the community to enroll individuals and families in WA state Apple Health. He enjoyed this role because not only did he assist patients, but he also was able to go out into the community and do outreach events to promote the WA Healthcare Benefit Exchange. He was in the navigator role for five years and began garnering an interest in the billing aspect of healthcare. He transitioned over to a biller for little over a year where he did insurance follow up. Reaching out to plans to find out why claims were being denied and having them reprocessed, if processed incorrectly.

Wanting to be closer to home and the Kitsap community, Alex wanted to work for an organization with the same principles as himself. He believes patients and the community deserve high quality medical, dental, and behavioral health care regardless of the ability of payment. To eliminate the healthcare disparities in our community is a vision he wants to help PCHS provide to the community.
